 INTRODUCTION
 
Scalptone is aproduct of SBL's Research & Development and is a combination of well proven drugs of homoeopathic therapeutics, for prevention of hairloss and premature greying. Each hair consist of shafts ( visible hair ) and a follicle which contains a root ( dermal papilla ) that is nourished by venous blood. A sebaceous gland lubricates the follicle. Lining the follicles and mixed in with the cells making keratin are other cells laiden with a pigment called melanin. Melanin stains the keratin and gives hair its color. Dandruff is an excessive scaling of the dead skin of the scalp. Scalptone is the sensible treatment for scalp to stay healthy and provides an ideal environment for the hair producing tissues that are found there in profusion.

 ACIDUM FLUORICUM

CLINICAL TRIAL REPORT OF SCALPTONE

Double-blind randomised, placebo controlled clinical trials were carried out in 50 patients suffering from excessive hair loss and associated symptoms. They were alloted to 2 groups of 25 patients each after randomization. The other symptoms selected were itching, irritation and dryness of scalp, thinning and splitting of hair, smarting of hair roots, dandruff and greasy skin. The activity and tolerance of two preparations Scalptone and Placebo were compared after 16 weeks of treatment with the use of 4 tablets 4 times a day.

This study has proved that efficacy of Scalptone showed a therapeutic benefit much superior to the group that received Placebo. The recovery rate from excessive loss of hair was 76% in the group which received Scalptone. The results were highly significant ( p < 0.001 ). There was marked improvement in associated symptoms in Scalptone Group e.g. Itching, irritation and dryness of scalp, thinning and splitting of hair roots. Both dandruff and greasy skin was totally cured in Scalptone group. Thus, it is concluded that Scalptone manufactured by SBL Ltd. is highly effective in the treatment of excessive hair loss and associated symptoms.
